Two ND Legislative Candidates Talk Co-ops, Rural Healthcare, and Cross-Border Community Building
Dr. Shelley Lenz, running for District 37 ND State House, is a practicing veterinarian with a clinic in Dickinson — but her work doesn't stop at the state line. She's helped build a clinic and community infrastructure project in Nicaragua, bringing hands-on healthcare and development experience from halfway around the world back to western North Dakota. Joining her is Bill Patrie, candidate for District 47 ND State Senate, whose résumé includes years of dedicated service to rural electric cooperatives, including a seat on the North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives. Bill's deep ties to co-ops across North Dakota and the greater Midwest give him a front-row seat to the issues facing rural power and infrastructure. This conversation blends veterinary medicine, international outreach, cooperative advocacy, and rural energy policy into one candid discussion about what's driving these two candidates into public service.
