
WATCH: Carrington Completes Hook-and-Ladder Play
It may only be Week 1 of the North Dakota high school football season, but the Carrington Cardinals have gone deep into their bag of tricks. On a critical third down late in their game against Bottineau, Coach Kyle Smith turned to a hook-and-ladder play in order to preserve his team's chances.
Quarterback Josh Bickett threw a hitch pass to senior wideout Grady Shipman. Despite being contacted immediately after the catch, he shoveled a lateral towards Logan Weninger. Already in stride, Weninger juked past the first wave of defenders and hurdled his way inside the 25 yard line.
