Triumphant Night for St. Mary's: A Hall of Fame Induction and First Season Win
With a 23-6 win over Williston, the St. Mary's Saints marched themselves into the win column for the first time this season. Coupled with a pregame ceremony inducting legendary Head Coach Dan Smrekar into their Hall of Fame, it was a memorable night in Bismarck.
St. Mary's marched down the field on the first drive of the game and scored a touchdown with a six-yard pass from Sam Fedorchak to Conrad Calberer. Neither team would score again until the second quarter when Fedorchak linked up with Aeyden Price as the Saints took a 13-0 lead going into the half.
In the second half, the Saints added three on their opening drive. Just under a minute later, Tevyn Friedt recovered a botched punt in the end zone, as St. Mary's jumped out front 23-0. However, the Coyotes would score their lone touchdown of the night on the ensuing drive as NDSU commit Isiah St. Romain caught a touchdown pass, bringing the final score to 23-6.
The Saints are now 1-2 overall and in WDA play, as the Coyotes are 0-3 overall and 0-1 in WDA play.
