RODEO SEASON ENTERS HOME STRETCH IN MEDORA
By: BEK Sports Staff
With the NDRA Finals just six weeks away, several close races are worth watching at the Medora Rodeo this weekend on BEK TV. The rodeo takes place this Friday and Saturday night, with coverage from the Ranch-O-Rama Arena Club beginning on BEK TV at 6:50 pm CT.
Both the men’s and women’s all-around races have tightened up after last week’s action.
In the women’s standings, Dawn Carson (Grassy Butte) has mere 90-point lead over Kiarra Reis (Dickinson).
On the men’s side, Beulah’s Sean Knight gained ground on Menoken’s JB Lord, who still leads by 265 points.
It has been an exciting season thus far with eight of the ten year-end standings separated by less than 100 points at the top.
The aforementioned Reiss holds a 35-point advantage over Jessica Magilke (Solen) in a ladies breakaway race that could be close all the way to the finish.
The bareback riding has also been particularly close, with Velva’s Carson Hildre clinging to a 20-point lead over defending champion Cole Gerhardt (Mandan).
In the saddle bronc riding, Kindred’s Tate Eck maintains a 30-point lead over Jason Cole (Warroad, MN).
There are five rodeos left for the competitors to punch their tickets to Watford City in September. This weekend’s events are crucial for the several cowboys and cowgirls who find themselves on the bubble – all vying for the pivotal #12 spot in the standings.
BEK TV will air the NDRA Finals from Watford City on September 22 and 23. Don’t miss the action from Medora this weekend!
