BEK Begins Volleyball Coverage Tuesday
BEK TV will launch its regular-season volleyball programming tomorrow night, featuring three compelling games. This season could be the last one to use the two-class system, concluding with the state tournament in Fargo from November 16-18. Here's the lineup of upcoming matches:
Legacy @ Minot -- 7:00 PM on BEK TV
Fresh off of a fourth-place finish at the state tournament, the Legacy Sabers have lots of new players stepping into larger roles. Senior setter Reese Duchscherer and outside hitter Halle Severson are the lone returning starters, the latter of whom suffered an ankle injury in the opening set of their BPS Crossover opener against West Fargo Saturday. The Sabers went just 1-6 at the tournament, but will have a chance to turn things around right away against a Minot team they took 6 of 7 sets from a year ago.
Despite a 14-23 overall record last season, the Minot Majettes were a tough team down the stretch and fell one set shy of a state qualifier. They are poised for improvement in year two under head coach Jesse Goertzen, and already flashed their potential by going 4-3 at the BPS Crossover. Outside hitter Zoe Zarr leads a lineup that incudes several key returners into this early-season tilt.
Linton-HMB @ LaMoure-LM -- 7:30 PM on BEK Sports 2
LaMoure-LM has already garnered some early momentum after a 5-1 showing at the Northern Cass invitational this past weekend. Returning three starters from a team that went 27-8 last season, only the top-ranked hosts defeated them in two tight sets in the championship match of the weekend.
Linton-HMB is no stranger to Northern Cass either. The Jaguars beat the Lions in the state title game last season, denying them a coveted 3-peat atop the Class B Volleyball landscape. New head coach Kadie Wells returns just two starters on this year's squad, whose record stands at 3-2 headed into this tough road test.
Wilton-Wing @ Strasburg-Zeeland -- 7:30 PM on BEK Sports 3
The Miners (6-24 last season) travel to Strasburg to take on the Clippers, who finished 23-11 last year - good enough for second place in a competitive District 6. Coverage begins at 7:15 PM with first serve at 7:30 on BEK Sports 3!
