Legacy, Linton-HMB, and Strasburg-Zeeland Clinch Victories in Volleyball Season Debuts

Tuesday night marked the beginning of volleyball season on BEK TV. The first three matches did not disappoint.

Legacy 3, Minot 0

The Sabers shook off a 1-6 showing at the BPS Crossover by taking care of Minot in straight sets on the road. Senior outside hitter Aleah McPherson's ten kills led the way for Coach Jen Astle's balanced attack. Middle hitter Brooklyn Felchle put in a strong performance, as did libero Brooklyn Sand, whose run of nine consecutive points on serve helped seal the second set. Minot grabbed an early lead in each of the final two sets but was unable to hold on. They drop to 4-4 overall and 0-1 in WDA play ahead of a trip to Jamestown Thursday night on BEK TV.

Linton-HMB 3, LaMoure-LM 2

In a Tuesday night thriller, Linton-HMB (4-2) earned an impressive road win over a highly talented LaMoure-LM (5-2) squad by a final of three sets to two. For the Lions, Emma Weiser led the way with 13 kills, 4 blocks and 3 aces. In a valiant losing effort, Tessa Rasmusson tallied 12 kills for the Loboes. After the teams traded lopsided sets to start the match, it was tight down the stretch between a pair of Region 3 teams who are likely to meet again in the postseason.

Strasburg-Zeeland 3, Wilton-Wing 1

After four dramatic sets, the Clippers captured a season-opening win on their home court against Wilton-Wing. Strasburg-Zeeland led 24-20 in set one before clinging on to win it 27-25. In the second set, the Miners led by as many as seven before the Clippers stormed back to take it 25-23. In the third, it was the Miners who showed great resolve to gut it out 28-26, saving several match points along the way. In true style of this match, the fourth set was tight as well but Strasburg-Zeeland saw it through by a score of 25-23.
