Hettinger County Scores Upset Win in Linton
In a back-and-forth battle Friday night, the Hettinger County Huskies improved to 2-3 with a victory over the Linton HMB S/Z Lions.
Linton started the game out with a Gentry Richter fumble recovery on their first defensive drive of the game. Then on offense, Richter linked with Jake Hayes for a touchdown to take an 8-0 lead.
The Huskies marched down the field on the ensuing drive and capped it off with a Tallen Binstock rushing touchdown. But their momentum was short-lived. Sophomore Levi Keeney then returned the kickoff back 97 yards to the house as the Lions took a 16-6 lead.
The Huskies responded when Matt Huether scored the final two touchdowns of the half, giving the visitors a 20-16 lead at the break.
The Lions and Huskies traded blows in the second half as Jace Jochim was on the receiving end of both of Linton’s second half TDs. However, Hettinger County would prevail as Tallen Binstock scored the game winning touchdown with under four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
