Demons Dominate St. Mary's
Behind a dominating defensive line and balanced offensive attack, the Bismarck Demons trounced the St. Mary's Saints by a final score of 49-7 at the MDU Resources Community Bowl on Friday night.
The Demons improved to 1-1, snapping a losing streak which dated back to October 2021. The Saints fell to 0-2 and will look for their first win of the season when they host Williston on BEK TV next week.
Bismarck scored touchdowns on all five of their first-half drives. Senior QB Quin Hafner accounted for two through the air and one with his legs. Senior running back Carter Henke tallied 85 rushing yards to accompany two scores. Defensive back Ty Luetzen returned an interception for a touchdown, and tight end Luke Dockter had three catches for 81 yards.
The Saints struggled to contain Bismarck's defensive front. Their first first down came in the closing minutes of the third quarter, but they marched down the field for a fourth-quarter touchdown. Quarterback Sam Fedorchak threw for 106 yards in the loss, with junior Aeyden Price's 51 yards leading all receivers.
