BEK Covering Final Day of WDA Volleyball Tournament
Today on BEK, two more teams punch their ticket to the State A Volleyball tournament in Fargo, which begins Thursday afternoon.
In the first state qualifier match, airing at noon on BEK TV, the Bismarck Demons take on the Minot Majettes. Bismarck won both regular season meetings between the schools, and will look to return to state for the third time in four years. The Magi are seeking their first state appearance since 2011.
Following that match, the Legacy Sabers will battle Dickinson. Though they are seeded 5th in the tournament, Dickinson bested Legacy in straight sets during the regular season. First-year head coach Taylor Hafner is trying to lead her team to state for the first time since 2012. Meanwhile, the Sabers are hopeful for a fourth consecutive state tournament berth.
Finally, the Jamestown Blue Jays and Century Patriots will compete for the WDA Championship. Both teams have already secured passage to the state tournament, but each will look to solidify their status as the best in the west. Century has won the tournament in each of the last nine seasons, but the last time Jamestown won it (2013), they went on to win the state championship.
