BEK TV Airing Both Class 2A Football Semifinals

#5 West Fargo Horace @ #1 Fargo North -- 7:00 PM on BEK TV

The #1 seed Fargo North Spartans host the upstart West Fargo Horace Hawks this evening on BEK TV. The Spartans were state runner-ups a year ago, boasting one of the best running backs in the state in Peder Haugo. His 23-touchdown season has North on the brink of making the short trip back to the Fargodome, but Horace stands in their way. The Hawks' defense has been one of the most improved in the state -- allowing just 20 points in their last two games. They produced a game-winning stop in the quarterfinal round against Dickinson in a double-overtime thriller.

#7 Grand Forks Central @ #6 Jamestown -- 7:00 PM on BEK Sports 2

Both of these teams advanced via upset victories a week ago, and will now clash for a Dakota Bowl berth. The two-time defending champion Blue Jays had lost a stretch of 3 of 4 games before upending Red River in overtime a week ago. Junior QB Ryan Kallenbach's offense scored twice in their final five plays, pushing Jamestown over the line. Grand Forks Central is enjoying their best season in over a decade. Second-year head coach Jake Schauer's group made a QB change after a 1-3 start in the campaign, and are 5-1 since Jack Simmers took over. The Knights knocked off Fargo South last week and are playing for their first state title apperance since 2007.
