Solar Outages: What Members Should Know
This fall, the solar outage period will continue through October 11. During this time, you may notice temporary disruptions to your EPIC IPTV service, such as picture pixelation, signal interference, or even a brief loss of service. These interruptions are normal and typically occur around midday, lasting only five to fifteen minutes.
While it can be frustrating to see your screen go dark or distorted, rest assured that solar outages are temporary and beyond anyone’s control. Picture quality is automatically restored once the sun moves out of alignment, and no action is required on your part.
We want our members to be aware of this natural occurrence so you know what to expect. Solar outages are a reminder of the unique technology that makes today’s television service possible and how even the sun itself plays a role.

Solar Outages: What Members Should Know
Each year, during a brief window in the spring and again in the fall, our members may experience temporary interruptions to their television service. This seasonal phenomenon, known as a solar outage, is caused when the sun aligns directly behind a satellite, overwhelming the signal being received by ground-based antennas.
