Shocking Study Reveals High Schoolers Entering College Unable to Write Their Own Names

According to the report, a large number of students are entering college with inadequate writing capabilities. Astonishingly, the study found that many 9th and 10th graders are not even able to write or print their own names. This alarming lack of basic writing skills raises serious questions about what's happening in our schools and how it might impact the future of our nation. If our high school students can't perform such fundamental tasks, what does that mean for their overall preparedness for higher education and the challenges of the real world?

Dr. Duke and Vicki McKenna discuss this issue, looking to understand the reasons behind this decline in writing skills and offering insight. They discuss the potential consequences of this trend and highlight the importance of strong foundational education in our schools.

For anyone concerned about the state of education in America, this episode provides an eye-opening discussion on an issue that deserves immediate attention.

More on Reading Levels:

From 2003 to 2009, about 68% of students at two-year public institutions and 40% of students at four-year public universities took at least one remedial writing class. This trend might have worsened after the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted traditional learning methods and possibly affected students' learning outcomes.

In response to this issue, several universities have introduced courses aimed at helping students develop basic college-level writing skills.
