Ryle Smith's: From Oakdale's Cowboy Capital to Top Steer Wrestler & Tie-Down Roper in the World

From a young age, he was surrounded by the rugged beauty of Oakdale, where the legacy of cowboys isn't just a part of history; it's a living, breathing lifestyle that shapes every day.

Ryle Smith isn't just any cowboy; he's one of the best in two of the most demanding and exhilarating events in the rodeo world: steer wrestling and tie-down roping. These events require not only physical strength and agility but also an unbreakable bond between horse and rider, and a deep understanding of the animals they work with. Steer wrestling, often known as bulldogging, is a true test of speed, strength, and technique, where a cowboy races alongside a steer on horseback, then leaps onto the steer in an attempt to bring it down to the ground as quickly as possible. On the other hand, tie-down roping is a delicate balance of precision and speed, challenging the cowboy to lasso a calf from horseback, then dismount and tie three of the calf's legs together, all against the clock.

This episode takes you on a journey through Ryle's life, from his early days in Oakdale, absorbing the ethos of the cowboy way of life, to reaching the pinnacle of success in the rodeo arena. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at the dedication, hard work, and passion that drives him to excel in such a competitive and physically demanding sport. Through interviews with Ryle, his family, and fellow competitors, along with exhilarating footage of his most memorable rides and wrestles, you'll gain insight into what it takes to be one of the top rodeo athletes in the world.

Join us on "Special Cowboy Moments" as we celebrate the legacy of the cowboy through the story of Ryle Smith, a modern-day cowboy who embodies the spirit, skill, and heart of the American West.
