Fetal Attraction: The Savanna Greywind Murder on Midwest Murder

Crews lured Savanna into her apartment under the guise of needing help with a sewing project. Once there, Crews accused Savanna of mistreating cats, provoking an argument. The situation escalated, and Crews shoved Savanna to the floor, knocking her unconscious. What followed was a gruesome act—Crews used a utility knife to perform a crude C-section, delivering Savanna’s baby, Haisley Jo, and placing her in a bathtub. Tragically, Savanna was still alive during this horrific procedure but died from blood loss due to the lack of medical care. Savanna’s body was found eight days later in the Red River, her baby missing from her womb. The baby, Haisley Jo, was discovered healthy in Crews’ possession. In court, Crews admitted her guilt, expressing regret and sorrow for her actions, though her apology did little to ease the pain of Savanna’s grieving family. Savanna’s boyfriend, Ashton Matheny, sat tearfully as the details of the murder were revealed during Crews’ sentencing. Crews was sentenced to life in prison without parole for conspiracy to commit murder, along with additional sentences for kidnapping and providing false information to police. Her attorney, Steven Mottinger, argued that Crews had accepted responsibility and could change, but the judge imposed the maximum penalty. Crews' boyfriend, William Hoehn, is also facing charges related to the crime. This tragic case highlights the devastating impact of violence and the lasting scars it leaves on families. The episode serves as a somber reminder of the fragility of life and the deep pain caused by such senseless acts.
