BEK TV Wins Best Local TV Station and Best TV Personalities with Midwest Murder Hosts

These awards reflect what our community has long known: BEK TV stands apart as one of the nation’s only unscripted and uncensored television networks. Free from the control of big corporate owners with hidden agendas, BEK TV delivers the authentic news, sports, and talk programming that people demand. Today, BEK TV produces more local sports and news than any other network in the region, and thanks to the BEK TV+ app, audiences across the globe can tune in live or on demand, whenever they choose.

But none of that would have been possible with the advanced communication technology that BEK has become known for. BEK TV is part of BEK Communications Cooperative, a member-owned telecommunications cooperative led by a locally elected Board of Directors. What began as a rural telephone cooperative has grown into the region’s leading provider of state-of-the-art fiber internet, called BEK Fiber.

Just as BEK TV is driven by the people, so too is BEK Fiber. Unlike other providers that rely on outdated or shared networks, like 5G wireless or satellite, BEK plows and buries a dedicated fiber line directly to each home and business that it serves. The result is the fastest, most secure, and most reliable internet service available. Fiber optic cables carry data at lightning speed, offering unmatched stability and security that shared networks simply cannot deliver. BEK Fiber customers enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing their internet is built for the future.

As BEK expanded its fiber network throughout its rural service area, new opportunities arose. High school and collegiate sports events that had once been limited to local audiences could now be broadcast to a wider audience through other cooperatives. The demand for coverage grew rapidly, and soon BEK TV was producing nearly 500 live events each year. From there, the network expanded into news, commentary, and original talk shows hosted by everyday people, programs that give voice to the communities BEK serves.

A few years ago, BEK launched the BEK TV+ app, extending access far beyond North Dakota’s borders. Whether in a living room in Bismarck, a college dorm in Fargo, or halfway across the world, viewers can now connect to BEK TV whenever they want.

Winning “Best of the Best” five years in a row is more than an honor, it’s a testament to the trust and support of the people. At BEK, we don’t take that for granted. From our roots as a telephone cooperative, to today’s fiber internet leader and the region’s premier source for sports and news, everything we do is rooted in serving our members and our communities.

To our viewers, our members, and our neighbors: thank you for once again choosing BEK TV as your Best Local TV Station and for recognizing the work of Dawn Palumbo and Jonah Lantto as the region’s Best TV Personalities. Together, we’ll continue building on a tradition of local ownership, community service, and the absolute best in fiber-powered communications.
